Laura Mercier has been a staple in many a makeup artists kit for a seriously long time, but I have noticed a trend towards peoples love for the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser SPF20. Noticing a stash of tinted moisturisers in makeup artist Tamsin Barbosas kit I asked why she preferred the tint.
'I used the foundations for a good while but always found that they are slightly on the heavy side. Once I had used the tinted moisturiser, I was a convert. Creamy, great coverage, a wonderful variety of colours and long lasting. I have used this as a foundation on actors such a Maggie Gyllenhaal and it has never failed.'
Laura Mercier has long been the 'go-to' in foundation care especially due to the great selection of yellow and pink toned bases. This particular foundation comes in 12 shades and is a oil and water based emulsion. You have to remember to shake well otherwise you end up with a rather separated liquid that never looks terribly appealing. New packaging prevents the lids from cracking and falling off which was a standard with the old version (pictured).
For older skin this moisturising velvety foundation works wonders, smoothing out fine lines and creating a flawless base. But, I can't help but feel that there are better products in the range now that leave the Moisture Supreme lagging behind a touch. It seems to have a committed fan base that love it but fewer people seem to be converting. Preferring instead products such as the Silk Creme Foundation or as previously mentioned the Tinted Moisturiser.
Argh! I'm still on the fence!
